C . R.
Dunbar is the Vice-Chairman of GPSA and brings his years of
expertise in strategic planning, organizational management and his
commitment to excellence to the organization. C. R. is also a
successful management consultant based in Atlanta who has worked
successfully with clients in the United States, Canada and Europe. He
has had a professional career that includes contributions in academia,
politics, business, and media.
Within the for profit sector, C. R. has worked with a variety of
clients over the years including companies and organizations such as
the award-wining and nationally recognized Busy Bee Café in Atlanta,
Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Stanley Steamer Corporation, and others.
In the nonprofit sector he has had a distinguished career of more than
two decades. During this time he served two years as the chairman of a
successful multimillion dollar community services corporation that
oversaw and managed early childhood educational programs, indigent
health care services, and social welfare services for several thousand
people annually. He also served a successful tenure as the executive
director of a metropolitan chamber of commerce.
As a nonprofit consultant, his clients either currently of have
included a multi-million dollar drug rehab and counseling center in
Georgia, over fifty churches throughout the U.S. including the 3,000
member Peace Baptist Church (metro Atlanta), the award-winning Harvest
Lodge Group Homes and Family Services in Georgia, as well as numerous
youth services programs, and programs for the homeless in Georgia,
North Carolina, South Carolina, and New York. Other clients include a
program that assists convicted felons to transition successfully back
into society through counseling, job training, and housing. He has
also successfully established nonprofit foundations for several
nationally known entertainment personalities such as Grammy award
nominated gospel superstar Canton Jones.
In academia, he has taught business and entrepreneurship at the
collegiate level. In this capacity, he had the pleasure of teaching
and mentoring many young adults. Some of these were collegiate
student-athletes that went on to productive careers in professional
athletics including Michael Ball (NFL Indianapolis Colts), Trinidad
Hubbard (MLB Atlanta Braves/ Los Angeles Dodgers), Jeff Faulkner (NFL
Arizona Cardinals), and pro football Hall of Fame inductee Aeneas
Williams (NFL Arizona Cardinals/St. Louis Rams). C. R. Dunbar has also
served as the program coordinator of the award-wining and nationally
recognized federally funded Project Start-Up entrepreneur and small
business training program at Clayton State University in metro
Atlanta. Through the Project Start-Up program nearly 200 business
owners were trained and successfully started businesses over a four
year period.
As an author he has written articles for major national publications,
typically as a topical business expert and also for insightful social
commentary. In the early 1990’s he served a brief stint as an
assistant to a United States Congressman, and has served as treasurer
and a strategic consultant for several local and one statewide
political campaign. He also spent more than a decade as the host and
producer of a business and financial information radio broadcast in
metro New Orleans and metro Atlanta.
C. R. Dunbar is an enthusiastic supporter and financial contributor to
youth sports programs and in his spare time enjoys being involved with
youth and high school sports. A man of faith, he is overjoyed and
humbled by the recognition that his God-given gifts have been
meaningful in helping to educate, counsel, and empower so many
individuals and organizations for so long. A current resident of metro
Atlanta, he is active in various adult health and fitness
organizations and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.
