MARVIN NESBITT JR. BIOGRAPHY

Marvin Nesbitt Jr. currently works as an Independent Contractor consulting on matters of low-income public housing operations. Prior to venturing out on his own, Mr. Nesbitt had a successful 12-year career with the Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA) in the Resident Services Department. He joined the Human Development Services Department at AHA in April of 2001 and held key positions, including Vice President of Human Development Services In his role, Mr. Nesbitt was responsible for departmental operations, designing, directing and administering strategies for family success. Mr. Nesbitt’s leadership impacted all of AHA’s clients including seniors, persons with disabilities, families and children in AHA’s affordable housing communities and the participants in the Housing Choice Voucher program. He also played an instrumental role in helping AHA with developing and implementing various organizational process improvement and organizational strategies designed to improve business operations family success.

 

Prior to joining AHA, Mr. Nesbitt worked as an Assistant Local Office Administrator with the Illinois Department of Human Services where he was responsible for directing a team of case managers and supervisors in administering the State of Illinois’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program to low-income individuals and families.

 

Mr. Nesbitt, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is originally from Spartanburg, S.C. and a graduate of Spartanburg High School where lettered in varsity football. After high school, Mr. Nesbitt was award a scholarship to play college football and was a 3 year starter at center on the offensive line. Mr. Nesbitt received his Bachelors of Science in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his Masters of Social Work and Public Administration from the University of Illinois Urban-Champaign.
