Tyrone
Tate has always been considered a serial entrepreneur with a
lifetime passion for sports. He is a graduate of the renowned Dunbar
High School in Washington, DC, which he found himself playing with and
against some of the most rare, talented, and legendary athletes during
his time. Playing five sports throughout grade school, he chose hockey
his senior year and it gave him the opportunity to play a pivotal role
on the inaugural National’s High School All-Star Team which traveled the
country. Tyrone began college at Northern Michigan University with the
intent to keep a promising boxing career moving and to play hockey on a
team that was projected to win a National Championship. However, nagging
injuries took a toll and ultimately it led to him transferring to
Alabama State University and securing a spot on the tennis team.
Tyrone’s work history over the years has included IBM, Department of
Transportation, Department of Commerce, the school system, several
successful small businesses, professional athletes, and entertainers. He
has played a key role for over 20 years in marketing, management, and
operations while earning constant recognition and awards for customer
service, sales, and community service. Tyrone has owned an athletic
apparel retail store, a clothing line, a sports and entertainment
consulting firm, and one of the most successful fast food franchises in
America according to the National Restaurant Association trends and
reports. He found time to teach, coach, motivate, and mentor high school
and college students. He has served on the Board for the National
Alliance of African American Athletes for the past 16 years and in this
capacity Tyrone is responsible for helping students make the transition
from high school to college and beyond. A few of those who made
successful transitions were Trinton Sturdivant, Mohamed Massaquoi, Chris
Burnette, and Marcus Jackson at Georgia, Darius Walker and Grant Irons
at Notre Dame, Matt Daniels and Vincent Oghobasse at Duke, Jameis
Winston and Myron Rolle at Florida State and Myron eventually became a
Rhodes Scholar, Mercedes Lewis and Robert Kibble at UCLA, Bryant

and extraordinary life experiences, another is a children’s science
fiction story, and quite fitting of his extensive academic and athletic
experiences, and a how to book that gives parents and students an
insightful look into the minds and habits of extraordinary scholar
athletes. Tyrone earned his bachelor’s degree from Alabama State
University and his M.B.A. with honors from Southeastern University.
