WALTER STITH
Walter Stith is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley in the
Atlanta Georgia Buckhead Complex. A native of Atlanta, Walter attended
Western Michigan University on a full athletic scholarship for
football. Walter Graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Business
Administration majoring in Finance. Prior to working at Morgan
Stanley, Walter Stith was a player in the National Football League,
Canadian Football League and also the American Basketball Association.
Walter is one of the few athletes to play on the professional level in
two sports. Walter Stith played for the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo
Bills in the NFL, the BC Lions in the CFL and the Lake Michigan
Admirals in the ABA.
With foresight for his future, Walter planned for life after football,
during football. After his rookie season, Walter took an internship
with Smith Barney in New York City. Seeing a great need for a
Financial Advisor that players can relate to in professional sports,
Walter believed his personality and financial experience would be
beneficial to helping professional athletes manage their wealth.
Walter’s commitment, leadership and passion for success allowed him to
be selected to join the Morgan Stanley Regional Financial Advisor
Advisory committee for their yearly meeting in Atlanta in 2012. Walter
is also on the Diversity Council for the Buckhead Complex. Walters’s
persistency and focus allowed him to achieve these accomplishments
within his first year with the firm.
Walter is passionate about community service and helping other’s
achieve their goals. Walter is an executive committee member of the
National Football League’s Former Player Chapter in Atlanta where he
participates in serving the community and helping corporations and
nonprofit organizations with their philanthropic efforts.
Since Walter’s rookie season in the NFL, he has been adamant about
educating high school student athletes across the nation by working
with a nonprofit organization, Why Not Sports, in coloration with NFL
Player Engagement. The mission of the Why Not Sports is to educate
student athletes on the academic requirements needed to successfully
transition from high school to college; and to encourage them to
explore a broad spectrum of careers within the sports industry.
Walter volunteers his time working with local high school students
teaching them about career planning, entrepreneurship and personal
financial responsibility. A portion of the nine-week course, held
throughout the school year, teaches the students about the stock
market.
Most recently, Walter was asked to be on the advisory board for the
College Football Hall of Fame (CHOF), which just broke ground in March
2013 for its new location in Downtown Atlanta. Walter’s connection
with the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame
stems from him receiving their Scholar Athlete Award and Scholarship.
Walter’s ability to sustain strong relationships, continued support
and experience in strategic business planning, programing and
knowledge of finance assisted him obtaining this position on their
advisory board.
Most important to Walter is his family. Walter married to his high
school sweet heart, Aisha, and they have a 5 year old daughter, Kaili
Alaia Stith. They enjoy spending time together as a family, actively
involved in their church, traveling, attending and participating in
sporting events, cooking together and volunteering in the community.
